Setting up dual factor authenication on a group of PCs I manage

I've been tasked to setup dual factor authenication on a group of PCs I manage. I've enabled dfa on the laptop I user (I consider this manangement console as this has all my PCs I manage included). I've got Teamviewer installed on my cell phone and have scanned the qr code, added my phone as trusted device. I've enabled dfa on one of the remote PCs and done the same, scan the qr code, add this to my trusted list. Now when I try to connect to this remote PC I don't auto connect I'm just stuck at authenicating. And then it times out. I'm expecting an allow popup on my phone. Can someone explain how the dfa on in Teamviewer works please?

May I explain Two Factor Authentication(2FA) with TeamViewer in this way.

Two Factor Authentication(2FA) is an additional layer of security protection for your TeamViewer account. Anytime when you are logging in TeamViewer account on TeamViewer client, TeamViewer Management Console and TeamViewer Community etc TeamViewer related service.

After input the the account password, a second prompt for Security Code (shows as screenshot below ) from the linked 2FA app before logging in to the account. There are several available in this knowledge article.

With enabling 2FA on TeamViewer account, it ensures TeamViewer account is safe in uses.

On the other hand, when you are connecting to any TeamViewer ID, the authentication window is asking for TeamViewer password. Can you kindly check the random password on the remote side for remote connection please.

I really hope the explanation will be helpful for you to understand the difference between 2FA and TeamViewer password.

The poster is talking about Two Factor Authentication for connections. (NOT ABOUT TFA for a TeamViewer account) So the above answers of Ying_Q to the poster does not apply.😫

If you want to use Two Factor Authentication for connections you have to go to each computer to scan the QR-code Which could be a lot of work. Still you can use teamviewer to "go" to the computer and scan the QR code but you have to do it one by one.

But when TFA for connections is active and your old authentication device is not accesible anymore you cannot even use TeamViewer anymore to "go" to any device. So in that case you are Stuck. Enabling a second device from the beginning is the prefered solution as told by Teamviewer Service team, But who is carrying two devices all the time. This is a big BUG 😥

The simpliest and only solution is to build some sort of management possibilitys for TFA for connections. In the management console or somewhere else.

Please contact Service team to ask a feature request about this problem! ("Use management console to maintain TFA for connections")
