I'm trying to create a new account with an email address that is the same as that of a previous deleted user. The system says the email address is still in use but i can't find the deleted user and the email address.

If the system says so, the user still exists in the database.
This means you can regain access by resetting the account's password and connecting to it via the new password.
To reset the password of your account, please use this link: https://login.teamviewer.com/LogOn#lost-password

Yes, that did the trick. I've reset the password. After that i could login with the account and deleted the account while logged in as the user. Now i can re-use the email address in the new user account.
