Username is too "short"

I am getting an error creating an account from withing the app, it says my email/username it too "short" even though it is not

    Try to use a name has more then 4 charaters?

    Same, I used the website and got another error. Eventually the verification email came.

    I was able to signup on the site with an even shorter user name.
