While the new teamviewer may be the greatest thing since sliced bread, it is not working for our clients. Perhaps we are missing something but below are the changes that make teamviewer no longer workable for remote support:
1 - remote sessions:
All user devices are installed with teamviewer that preloads at startup. Because we do not want a big brother situation, unattended access is not enabled. However since teamviewer preloads, any user wishing support, can submit a ticket and provide their ID/PWD. They may or may not need to stay with the unit depending on the ticket issue. Many times we connect without user interaction after they provide the connection request with ID/PWD.
The remote session with the email address, blah blah blah is simply complicating something that is easy.
2 - While we have found in some instances we can get the users ID/PWD to display - staying with the old interface. It seems you are just teasing us, as when the connection is successfully made, you still do not display/pop-up the remote session, as it use to work previously. We are forced to use the new web version to connect to the desktop. Which is deficient in many ways to the old version.
Let's discuss 2 basic functions that seem to have been removed?
3 - In the remote web browser version - when a reboot or we want to invoke a reboot - in the old version, we were always prompted - "do you want to reconnect". This allowed the session to retain the old PWD and after reboot the auto reconnect worked great. With the new web version - that reconnect prompt never appears. We have to ask the user to provide the new pwd now or run RDP connect and find the new pwd that way. Not efficient at all.
4 - Remote file transfers - in the old version, the easy to understand - select files to transfer on the left, select location to upload on the right. Now the selection process is the file explorer - selecting multiple files from multiple folders is no longer a one step process, if it can be done I haven't been able to figure it out. Once I select some files and then select another folder, the previous selections are removed.
On the upload side, you can no longer select the location to upload too, it appears you default to the users download folder. Overall, none of this is an improvement.
It's very possible, we are simply missing the brilliance of the new version. If so, please provide links to documents that address the issues discussed above and we will give it another try. If not it would be appreciated if there was a way to use the old easy to use methods discussed above.
