I'm not an IT administrator and I don't run a vast enterprise. I'm just a citizen who wants to remote control a device. I used to have a simple Teamviewer setup.
Teamviewer was a single app that ran on my Windows PC and on a remote MS Surface, also running Windows. One number and a privileged password was all it took to connect to Teamviewer, log in to Windows, and remotely launch a Zoom client for my disabled mother to enjoy her weekly family virtual visit. I could operate it from a PC, Mac, or a phone in a pinch. Then the tablet got broken.
We decided to replace it with a sturdier Android tablet because Teamviewer claimed to be compatible, but where is the efficient single-app solution that I used to have? The Android client seems to require a chain of add-in modules just to function as a remote device, I'm forced to connect by browser through a web console, the host screen exhibits severe video compression glitches, and the tablet still requires a capable operator at the remote location to launch and authorize a connection. My mother is unable to operate digital devices. This is no solution at all.
How can I enable the Android tablet to perform as the old Surface once did, with one app here connecting to one app there, needing nothing more than a tablet turned on?
