Desktop won't go back to normal after disconnecting

I just installed TeamViewer after a reformat.  I downloaded the latest version  (I have used TV for years) A friend connected to my PC, the desktop turned black (as it always does) but then when he disconnected, it remained black and nothing I can think to do will change it back to normal.  What do I do?

I have since looked at the log and found this.

At line 1283 I found:
