Windows 10 - "Remote Assistance Settings" -- must this be enabled for TV to work properly?

Under System Properties > Remote > Remote Assistance Settings

There is a checkbox next to:

   "Allow this computer to be controlled remotely"

Is TeamViewer dependent on this being checkmarked (in order to work properly)?

Reason I ask: I do not want to leave open any more vulnerabilities than necessary.  If TeamView is fully functional withOUT that checkbox being checkmarked, then I would just as soon UNcheck that checkbox.

Thank you for a great service.  My familiarity and satisfaction with the free personal service has already led to my setting up one of my clients with the Professional version.
