I installed teamviewer on Ubuntu 18.04 but cannot connect, "teamviewer is not running on partner com

Can someone please help me fix this issue? The ports teamviewer uses are open, all dependencies are installed, unattended access is setup, the daemon is running. However, Port checker shows no activity on any of the ports. I have tried every solution posted on these forums I could find but nothing worked.
