What is the difference of the Android apps vs. Android for Samsung apps?

Samsung is a bit of a special case. they have their own version of the applications as they work very closely with us. Long story short, the Samsung apps have the add-ons built in and are optimised for Samsung products. The Samsung add-on is still in the appstore, but we don't recommend using these when you can utilise the Samsung apps.
