the password does not shown up

I have a problem connecting my laptop to control the raspberry pi 3 that I have. the raspberry pi is only showing the ID number but there is no password for it. When I try to connect it is asking password but there is no password showing up in the raspberry pi.this is what shown in the raspi

    I actually have the same issue at the moment with linux. not sure what to do.
