Yes, I am experiencing the same issue. This is very frustrating in that I must reinitiate the remote session, reset my screen resolution and setup my screen to full page. I don't see that it is saving any resources and it is very inefficient for the user.

Sounds like your free license was flagged as corporate/commercial use. They say you have to go to this link https://www.teamviewer.com/en-us/special/reset-management/ and fill out the form and they will restore it within 72 hours. I have filled this out in the past with no issue but for some reason this time they are not doing anything about it, filled it out 3 times already and nothing but radio silence. Maybe you will have better luck.

  • I have filled out the form at https://www.teamviewer.com/en-us/special/reset-management/ at least 3 times and they have not done anything about it, in the past I had my license restored in a couple hours. Maybe it is time to find another free program

Thank you for the link, we also had a similar issue years ago. Good luck looking for alternatives. Always something huh.

  • I tried to connect to my desktop from my laptop and I am getting a license issue warning. The connection disconnects after just a few minutes. Why is this? I thought there was a free license to home users? How do I fix this?

Same issue keeps saying it detected commercial use and disconnects, happens alot for no reason. Used to be able to put in support ticket to resolve but TeamViewer no longer allows free users to speak to them

Same.. as a FREE user can't open a support ticket. I'm literally on my home wifi using 192.168.x.x IPs and connecting to my desktop across the house!

Same here … Never was an issue before. I administer my machines on my home network for years now. Would be nice to know, on what grounds tv thinks this is commercial use. Can't open ticket either, see above!

Funny thing…..this morning I tried to remote into my parents PC just to see if I could help them with their issue for the minute they give you, and it looks like maybe they restored my license but no email sent. Hopefully that did it though, good luck to you as well!

  • I feel ya! Somewhere it's written that if you do it more than once, it "confuses" them. I think that IF they are looking at these reset requests, there are so many…It is truly annoying, just like them putting this new version in a few weeks ago with no notice or instructions, and now this. AGAIN, if they can't realize to even INCREASE the timeout to MORE THAN A MINUTE, THEN THERE IS NO ONE THERE THAT CARES OR HAS A BRAIN…SAD…

Teamviewer is so unreliable,I have an account for many years now and never used it commercially or abused it. But every now and then I have a period that the systems disconnect me every single minute for days or weeks, even when I fill in the reset form. I really don't understand why??? No customer support to help out??? This is so bad for their reputation, I'm not talking positifly anymore about TV [removed per Community Guidelines]. Extremly dissapointed User. TV solve this problem for your own sake!

I love that TeamViewer is available for free for non-commercial use. I use it exclusively to help my aging mother with her tech questions. Today, for the first time, I got this pop-up message telling me that COMMERCIAL USE DETECTED and we were cutoff after 5 minutes. There are no good alternatives to support her but the commercial license is far too expensive for me to pay to support one family member. Anyone in the community understand why this is happening now?

I am just using a desktop and 2 laptops. Most of the time they are off. Personal use only and I still get this warning. Teamviewer is useless for free users.

  • Don't know why I've been limited, I don't and would never use teamview for work as it's slower and has less features. I use it personally, now it's limited. Should I just use something else? can't even contact support unless I pay

screw it i'm using **Third Party Product**. delete my account for all i care. Also you can delete an account and remake it in less time that even paid support will respond.

These comments really do not have any direct relation to the questions I asked. It's not that I'm getting blocked for Commercial use. It goes ahead and allows me to use it for personal use after getting a very dissimilar message. I do not agree that the conversation was merged with an urelated topic. I will delete my original post and vow to not use this forum for support since it it moderated too strictly.

Yesterday when trying to assist my mother with a remote connection session, I wasn't able to connect and there was a "warning" message that the number of concurrent sessions was reached and I needed to wait or upgrade to a paid license version.Possibly just a temporary glitch, I tried to wait and retry a few time, with same problem - but I wonder if the free license version is still a valid one for private use with just one remote device ?

I have used team viewer for years with same account to help my family members out when needed. I have never used it in a business environment or for commercial use. I have never accepted payment for my help via team viewer.

I was trying to help my mother out, who is approaching 80 years old, with transferring photos and videos from her old cell phone to her PC.

She had sent me her old phone and I did pull the data off it that she wanted, but when I try to transfer files via team viewer, I'm getting the "commercial environment' message when I am absolutely not in a commercial environment.
I am using my personal PC in my home.

Now I can't connect for more than a minute or so before it disconnects making team viewer absolutely useless.

Is there any way to get team viewer to correct their mistake?

  • I connecting from abroad to my home PC.
When I connect to this PC I get the TV warning considering my connection to be for business. It is not. I am connecting to my home PC when I am away, to get my local files and suport the family with their issues.
This happened years ago, and it has recently started happening again.

    TeamViewer version: 15.60.3

    Please help

  • I have used Teamviewer about 10 times a year. Now Teamviewer crashes and tells me I am a commercial user and must pay for the service.
