Teamviewer Presentation Crashing after 59 seconds

TeamViewer 14, personal.

When a user creates a presentation, it creates the presentation and others can join. However, after 59 or 60 seconds, the presentation ends with the error "The connection has timed out". When other users on this network create a connection, it works.

Uninstalled Teamviewer, cleared registry, did a full reinstall.

Been there, done that. Even set up a new account on a different provider. Problem came back again. They do have a problem with often thinking personal use is commercial. Do yourself a favor and try other options until hopefully they can figure out their problem and get it fixed. I do like TV, but as an old retired guy with a bunch of junk computers for hobby stuff, I have worn out my patience trying things to make it work again.  :-)

Re: Has ANYONE had their commercial use block removed....

@Steve-in-FL wrote:

I do not know how to refer to an older post, so I will repeat my comments here:

I filled in the online form for each of my 13 IDs. They unblocked 12 of those IDs within a few days. The 13th was still blocked. I filled in  the online form again with no results. Then I received an email asking me to fill in the "declaration of private use" form. I did so and listed the 13th ID (even though the form doesn't ask for the ID at all). That 13th ID was unblocked within 24 hours.

You ask for pointers, but all I can tell you is what I did. I submitted an online form for each ID I have and on the form listed all of the other IDs, so everything could be cross-referenced, if necessary. I showed the name assigned to each of the IDs. For each ID that "looked" commercial, for example DATASERVER, I explained that it was used only in my home and for a specific, non-commercial purpose. When they asked for the "declaration of private use" form, I also listed the ID and the name assigned. That's it.

All I can say is that it worked for me. But I know that the system is unclear, appears to be arbitrary and is inconsistent. I know that the trigger is not only the IP address, since the ID that originally did not get reset was one of seven in my house, so they all shared the same WAN IP address.

Other people have not been so lucky, with no action of any kind in response to their forms. Can't say why.

I consider the unblocking a response, so I was not unhappy that they didn't write me an email when they did that. It's not good public relations, but my concern was unblocking - I consider that the important part of the response. In fact, the only email I did receive, was the one that said I needed to fill in the Declaration of Private Use. The responce I got for that one was, again, unblocking, but no email.

Good luck.

Steve-in-FL

Far too much work to keep struggling to keep their free version for hobby use working, especially when there's several others out there that work just fine.

I have been in communication with TV the last few weeks for the same exact thing. I have two cell phones, two android tablets and two laptops and a desktop ALL IN MY HOUSE. HOWEVER here lately THEY SUSPECTED ME OF COMMERCIAL USE. So I filled out all the forms and they sent me a response. I will copy and past the one line that sums it all up ............ After reviewing the information provided to us, we were unable to confirm that the submitted ID is being used privately. Guess what? Not only can they not CONFIRM that I am NOT using it for commercial purposes but they are not confirming that I am either. **bleep** sure glad courts don't work that way. We are sorry sir but we can't confirm that you didn't rob that bank so we are going to put you in jail anyway. Common theme these days with TV, it seems. I totally burned out sending in requests and stuff to them for my hobby stuff. No biggie to me, I'm retired, and while I did like TV, it's not worth the effort to keep dealing with getting it working and have it break again, over and over. "**Third Party Product**" works fine.

remote access blocked saying i'm not using it for personal use

Hi

My teamviewer is now blocking me and saying that I'm using it for commercial use when I'm using to personal use. I do have it installed on my work laptop, but use it to connect to my desktop at home as I can't use some apps on my work laptop. How do I get this block taken off?

Teamviewer Commercial License Suspected

I did have TV installed on a server for movies without realizing that was against the rules. TV suspected commercial activity and shut me down. I went through the process of removing TV from the server (after I found out it was a no no) and filled out the required paperwork to have the free personal license reinstated. It's been a month since I've filled all that out, I still get commercial activity suspected. I recieved nothing additional from TV.

Any ideas? I can't even contact someone to see what's going on? I get that this is a free service and I need to be patient, but all I use it for is to prevent me from having to drive 20 minutes one way to my parents house to help send an email?

Re: Why do I see 'Commercial use suspected' / 'Commercial use detected' link is not work

Getting this stupid message. I used to love this program but I'm uninstlling it soon from all my devices and going to any of the other free options in the same space as you. I"d name them but like a petulant child you mark them out with *Third Party*. If you're that good you shouldn't be threatened by a competitors name. As a free user you don't care anyhow...I can see you nodding yes. Good ridence.

Access blocked, please help!

Hi team viewer representative

Unfortunately, my account was deactivated. I'm a student at the University of Houston but I was doing my internship at Nvidia now since the laptop from Nvidia has business windows you deactivated my account.
I'm done with the internship and there is no business windows anymore.
Please activate my account. This semester I will graduate and I need to work remotely.
Please let me know if you need more information, I can provide you my limited work authorization that proves I'm a student and right now I was an intern.

Thanks, I greatly appreciate your help and understanding.

Re: Access blocked, please help!

So I finally heard something from  TV. I had to actually go to Twitter and call them out for the lack of customer service, in order for them to respond.  After they eventually responded they still said I using TV  it commercially.

I have uninstalled TV and not renewing my actual commercial account with Teamviewer, that my IT team uses. We will be switching to another product.

Maybe we should all go to Twitter and social media and bring this into the public light and let them deal with this marketing nightmare.

In the end I just setup remote desktop to my home pc from my work laptop. setup port forwarding on my router to route to my dekstop private ip, added and inbound firewall rule ini the router, and just use rdp to remote to my router Ip. works just as good. does what i need for now anyways.

Re: Access blocked, please help!

After using Teamviewer for 2 years of personal use my account was locked for commercial use after the august update to IoS. I submitted a ticket and the account was unlocked. About a month later it was locked again. I use my phone at work on work wifi IP address every now and then and I'm sure that is why it's being locked. Work IP uses a high rate corporate TeamViewer account.

Very unfortunate that I had no issues for 2 years and then all the sudden an update and I'm locked with no way to access my home server.

teamviewer block after 1 min

i only used teamviewer for personal use. I never used teamviewer for comercial use. but since last week, i start to have this message, that i am using it for comercial use and i cant connect more than 1 minute before the connection close. then i have to wait 10 minute to reconnect.
how can we fix this probelm?

TeamViewer insists that I am a business user and terminates connection after 30 seconds

So today when I tried to help my friend fix something preventing him from using his PC, my TeamViewer session randomly terminated. Upon trying to reconnect I was told I needed to wait 11 minutes to reconnect. When I was finally able to reconnect I was informed that "action" was necessary and that I was using the software as a business customer. The session again terminated after roughly 30 to 40 seconds.

I do not, and have not ever, charged anyone for fixing their issues over TeamViewer. I do not own a business license. Furthermore, I haven't used TeamViewer in weeks. I help my friends out with their issues at most 3 or 4 times a month. Either your algorithm for detecting "business" users needs to be reviewed by a professional, or someone's on my account without my knowledge.

Can you guys please reset my account back to a free user and take a look at what part of your algorithm flagged me as a commercial user and actually fix it. Thank you for your time.

Academic User of TeamViewer - Flagged as Commercial Use

I run a research group at Arizona State University. but use my gmail account [The email has been removed as per the community guidelines.] for my 'free' Teamviewer account.  I use this to remotely access a range of remote computers and my account has been 'flagged as commercial use'.  Who do I contact and what info do I need to provide so that my account is not flagged for commercial use?   Or do I have to use my asu.edu email address to setup the teamview account?

Thanks, Jeff

Any updates? I have a similar issues after all this time - now, and without any advanced notice, i'm shut out of teamviewer. I use my gmail accout, not my .edu, and don't charge for my services or anything like that. I  have multiple commputers (and of course have my mom and dad on the list so I can fix whatever problem they have).......

Re: Team Viewer Commercial Use

Found the device ID the reset form is looking for:

1. In the Teamviewer app, click on the "Computers and Contacts" tab.

2. In the My Computers pulldown, click on the computer you cannot log into.

3. In the right panel, click on the gear icon next to the computer name.  Then click on Properties.

4. The computer ID will be listed in the dialog box!

Falsely advertising “Free for Personal Use”

I’ve been using the free edition of TeamViewer for years to manage my mother’s computer. She lives several states away and she’s been living in a nursing home for several years now. Recently I tried to connect to her computer and was disconnected with a message that it appeared I was using TeamViewer in a commercial environment. I use TeamViewer to perform routine maintenance and to solve problems she has from time to time. I don’t receive any money from my mom for doing this. Please allow us to keep using TV so I can continue to provide her with the help she needs. I have written to TeamViewer repeatedly to request that the commercial ban be removed from my account. I have complied with all your requests and you have either refused or completely ignored my communications.

If TeamView continues to ignore my requests I intend to file a complaint with the US Federal Trade Commission for falsely advertising that this product is free for personal use. You state on this very same website your definition of what is “Free for Personal Use”:

Family and friends

In any case, the use of TeamViewer with family and friends without any financial compensation is considered as personal use.

What are exact guidelines for non-commercial use?

I am using teamviewer to occasionally help my friends and family with their computers, and TeamViewer often tells me that it detects commercial use. Sometimes it still let's me through, sometimes it prevents me from connecting. Today I just couldn't connect at all :(

I suspect there's a bug in detection of commercial use, because my use case is clearly non-commercial, but I wonder, is there anything I can do to work-around?

Yeah fianllly got an email from them insisting I am still using it commercially and I can print off a form, sign it and send it back to them with still no guarantee. Got news for you teamviewer - you have lost a long time user, have found aan altrenate product which is free and does everything TV does. But as I work in IT support, I will not be recomending your product to absolutley anyone at all in future evergagain. Whether that is for whatever company i work for or to friends anf family.

Commercial Use Suspected form - unable to process request because of "invalid" ID

Hello, I got the "commercial use detected" message as well and submitted the form. I waited for a week but didn't get any reply, so I resubmitted it. Eventually after 9 more days, received an email with the subject

"Your support request: The ID you submitted is invalid/wrong."

and the body

" Dear TeamViewer User,

Thank you for getting in touch with us. We were unable to process your request because the ID you gave us was invalid/wrong. Please fill in another form with the correct ID. Please note that the ID consists of nine numbers and is unique for every device."

I do not understand why the cant process my request. My ID displayed consists of TEN numbers (not nine) and has the form "1 xxx xxx xxx" (with spaces included) and this is exactly how I submitted the form. Maybe I should not use the "1" and submit it as "xxxxxxxxx" without spaces? Also is there a way to expedite this instead of starting all over again because this long wait is really frustrating..

Re: Commercial Use Suspected form - unable to process request because of "invalid" ID

I have had exactly the same experience as you have.

In May of this year I had also received a "Possible Violation of EULA" email.  It said to ignore the email if I was not in violation of the personal use clause.  Therefore, I ignored that email.

My understanding from reliable sources is that Teamviewer is trying to "nusance" away non-paying (i.e., personal use) users. If you look at their behaviour that makes perfect sense.

I think the most effective thing people can do is find an alternative solution.

Re: Commercial Use Suspected form - unable to process request because of "invalid" ID

I agree that it would be nice to get an answer.  However, I fear that Teamviewer is sending people on a fool's errand in trying to get their personal use re-enabled.

Has anyone successfully completed their form and had their personal use re-enabled?  To date, I know of no one that has been successful.  I would love to hear back from anyone who was successful and learn what, and how long, it took to do so.

Best of luck.

Re: Commercial Use Suspected form - unable to process request because of "invalid" ID

A couple of months ago I put through the formal request to be re-enabled.  It was approved. It worked once, or maybe twice.  Then the "commercial use suspected" started up again.

Honestly, there's no reason to stay on TV for any private individual using it for informal personal use.  There are other solutions.

It would seem appropriate to report them for false advertising.  Alternatively a class-action suit, but since we haven't paid anything, we haven't been defrauded of cash.  Only time.

Yes. Search for my posts in this topic and you will find a long-ish explanation of what I did. I was unblocked on all 13 IDs that I use, about 4-6 weeks ago. Have not been reblocked since.

Some people have had good luck and success.

I don't know what differences might exist, but when I was blocked, I got the commercial pop-up, but I was connected with no time limit. The next time I tried to connect, it would say something like "you have to wait 10 minutes." But no session I ever was connected on was time limited.

This is different from what others have seen. No idea why.

Re: Commercial use detected blocks usage completely

I think that they USED to have competent people working on their service.

They probably have hired some goody-two-shoes that have really messed up their service and they always assume comercial useage and are having so many problems that they can't handle all the requests.

I have one of my machines flagges (after YEARS of personal use), and they can't determine what it's use is, but they CERTAINLY had no problem flagging it! and are taking forever to switch it back to personal use.

I filled out the form on line and they couldn't confirm it's use, so I was emailed a form to fill out and email back, to PROVE TO THEM that I was using it for personal use.

Let's see how LONG THIS TAKES! once they get through the thousands of false flags that someone has created!

Someone needs to get FIRED!!!!

COMMERCIAL USE DETECTED

At the risk of angering the Community Gods...

Yes, I have seen that this issue has been raised many times before, but I don't know what else to do but to post this. I submitted this form: https://www.teamviewer.com/en/support/commercial-use-suspected/. On 9/17/2019, I recieved an email that stated: "After reviewing the information provided to us, we were unable to confirm that the submitted ID is being used privately.". So, on 9/23/2019 I submitted a signed "Unblock Request Form" to form-service@teamviewer.com. I still have not recieved any response. What else do I need to do to get my ID unblocked? Also, is it possible to use the same "Unblock Request Form" to unblock all of my IDs? Thanks!

Re: Commercial use detected blocks usage completely

I gave up. There are plenty of other remote utilities out there that can do this job without treating me like a criminal.

The sad thing is that I am a longtime user and I have offered TeamViewer numerous times to pay a small fee for their service. It was a quality product and I feel people should be paid for their work. But the pricing on their commercial license is just ridiculous for someone who uses this at home for personal use.

Re: Commercial use detected blocks usage completely

What is the other remote viewing product you switched to?

I don't see there is any issue for you to name it here.  After all, it is not like TV is going to lose any revenue from its non-paying customers.

TV is definitely on a mission to shed all of its "free" non-commerical users.  Evidently a change in philosophy from sr. management.  It is a shame they don't have the integrity to actually just come out and tell people they are getting rid of non-commercial (i.e., free) use.  Instead they have embarked on this campaign of game-playing.

My understanding is that the company is under dire financial stress and is preparing itself for sale.  Loads of non-paying users are not attractive to prospective buyers.

If you go back through the thread, you'll see that any competitors names are blocked out. Just search for other remote utilities and you'll find it, I'm sure. Although the one I'm using is Windows only.

Re: my thoughts about this absurd situation

Because if you are just trying to thin the ranks of Free Users, or just frustrate good honest people you make as little information as possible available to those same good and honest people. Its called not having the guts to say something like "We no longer want free users" maybe their paying customers are getting the same treatment.

Re: my thoughts about this absurd situation

I suggested to them many times that they have a personal use license. I'd be willing to pay a nominal fee. It's a good product, and I don't expect goods and services for free. But the pricing on the commercial license is outrageous for a home user.

Re: Teamviewer Commercial License Suspected

No, we can't. TeamViewer doesn't allow mentioning of third party products on their forums.

There are many other remote utilities and remote desktop software options though. I found one that is great for windows users, that I'm sure you'll be able to find with a quick search using some of the terms I just mentioned.

In theory, there's no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

teamviewer developpers and ability to calculate to 5 (aka 5 minute commercial use suspected)

If this is read by any of the teamviewer developpers, please consider going back to elementary school to learn some basic algebra, such as calculate to 5. Omitting the "commercial use suspected" repeated warning on an already unblocked computer, the limit is never 5 minutes, usually under a minute, which is also clearly reported by TV at the end of the session.

Dear Teamviewer company, while you have had an initial advantage, and you still hold one when it comes to the solution, many other products have started to go your way and are getting better fast. Your product, while still superior, is overpriced and your attitude arrogant and your knowledge of mathematics is just ridictulous. Please try to rethink employment strategy for your developpers...

Teamviewer still says I'm using it commercially

As the subject says, I'm still getting the commercial use false flag even after contacting teamviewer and them telling me they made a mistake and removed the flag from my account. Took them about a week to reply back, but they said they idenitified that it was a false flag and that it had been corrected.
