Using the TeamViewer Windows pc app (currently as an unpaid/free user), I can repeatedly control an Android phone (with the TV QuickSupport Android app installed and running in the background) without the user of the phone being required to do anything at all (the user having previously authorized that access). That phone is listed as a Managed Device.

I have a second Android phone that I controlled previously also running QuickSupport in the background, though always with the user of the phone having to authorize with each session. It is currently listed as a Bookmarked device. Can you please tell me how to add that device to the list of Managed Devices either with the TV Management Console (via internet browser) or via the TV Windows app? Thanks.

Thanks for your reply and your questions!

When you use session code links, you're using TeamViewer QuickSupport.
Both session code and service queue features are exclusively for QuickSupport/attended remote sessions.

TeamViewer Host and TeamViewer full client are the only ones that can be configured with unattended access (for Windows, macOS, Linux). However, mobile devices require TeamViewer Host for unattended access (it's not possible to set up unattended access in a mobile device using TeamViewer Remote app or QuickSupport).

To set up TeamViewer Host unattended access, you need to do the account assignment. After that, the device will automatically show up on your managed devices list:

Free users can have up to 3 managed devices (TeamViewer Remote’s Free Version Redesign). If needed, you can remove managed devices by clicking the three dots, Delete device, to open space for a new Host.

Once you have the devices set, you can start the remote session by double-clicking the name of the device or by the connect blue button:

The Host should not close in the background, you may need to check the phone settings if it's configured to time out apps to save battery.

Thanks for reaching out to our Community, we appreciate your question!

TeamViewer QuickSupport is just an executable meant for attended remote support (it will require someone on the other side to accept the remote session). However, TeamViewer Host is meant for unattended access (once the account assignment is configured and a first remote session established, you can connect to that device without anyone accepting the connection.

📌A reminder for free users: Since the announcement TeamViewer Remote’s Free Version Redesign, free users can have up to 3 managed devices. Therefore, Easy Access to unattended remote support can be granted to 3 devices.

The device shows in the Bookmarked list because you previously connected with it using QuickSupport.
To avoid confusion, I would suggest the following:

1. (Optional) Remove the device from the Bookmark list by clicking the three dots, Delete device.

2. On the mobile device, uninstall TeamViewer QuickSupport and let only TeamViewer Host.

3. Open the Host and login with your account to do the account assignment and automatically add the device to your managed device list:

💡Hint: If you need to connect to the mobile device when the device is locked, make sure to enable the Eco mode (click the three dots ➜ advanced ➜Eco mode Enabled)

Then, try to remote connect again and let us know how it goes. 🙋‍♀️

Host appears to work, as you say. I give Host ALL permissions. The only issues I see are that Host will disappear from the background and never appear again (including after multiple phone restarts), although it is apparently still running, because it still will connect. After every restart of the phone, the user of the phone is presented with the 'Start recording or casting with Host?' dialog before it can be controlled again. But the dialog won't appear again, even after multiple disconnects and reconnects, until the next phone restart.

I assume Host disappearing from the background is a feature and not a bug. To prevent Host from being inadvertently stopped and having to be restarted maybe? In any case, regarding the second phone I mentioned in my original post, I switched from QuickSupport to Host as you advised. I can control it only by initiating a session and texting a link for its user to join that session. But after being unattended for a little while, the connection breaks. It's done that twice now. The only way I can find to control it again is by texting another session link. I want to move that phone from Bookmarked to Managed, but I can't find any way to do so, either through the Windows TeamViewer app or via the Management Console. If you can suggest a way, I'll try that or tell you why that fails. Could part of the problem be that I tell the user of that phone to enter my email address and password (which I use on my end too) when the appropriate screen pops up? It's a new phone and they don't have an email of their own as far as I know. Any help would be appreciated.

In Managed Devices, I have only two devices listed, the pc that I'm controlling from and my own smartphone that I have nearby for testing that are currently marked as Managed Devices. The remote phone that my very old father uses that I want to control is currently marked as a Bookmarked Device. If I click on it in the Bookmarked list, then it is reported as Offline, although Host should still be running on it. How do I proceed to 'do the account assignment'?

I had the user uninstall QuickConnect. Then she started Host. A screen pops up asking for an E-Mail, Password and Alias. she entered the same email and password I use on my nearby phone. I told her to enter a different alias for that phone. It always tells her wrong email address or password.

She finally succeeded this time with the email and password and an alias unique to that phone. But the device is not showing up in my 'Managed Devices' list in the TeamViewer app.

In the top right, I click Add device. It shows Embedded Device and below that, 'Add remote device using' and below that 'Bookmark device' with space to enter a Name and a Device ID. I do nothing and just click outside that dialog and it disappears.

I open the Devices dock in the TeamViewer app. I click the three vertical dots at the top right. Under 'Content filter', I select 'Status view' therein. Under 'Recent', the device's TeamViewer ID is visible. I select it. Another page comes up with the ID at the top and below that, 'Connect with'. Under that, 'ID and password' and 'File transfer'. I select 'ID and password'. It responds with 'Connecting to Partner' and then a blue box with the words "A connection could not be established. Either your partner isn't connected to the internet or your partner's TeamViewer isn't running yet. Please tell your partner to check their internet..." appears for a moment at the bottom of the dock and then disappears. Also a dialog titled 'Unable to connect' pops up over the TeamViewer app with the words "Either your partner isn't connected to the internet or your partner's TeamViewer isn't running yet. Please tell your partner to check their internet connection or to start TeamViewer."

Host should still be running. The device is left plugged in to power all the time and never powered off. It IS connected to its wireless account uninterrupted. So, what's wrong?

Thanks for your message and the additional information.

For your safety and privacy, you should never give your account credentials to any user. If you shared your account with another user, please reset your TeamViewer account password and consider setting up Two-Factor Authentication as soon as possible.

If the mobile device is not fiscally in front of you so you can type your account in the Host assignment field, please know you can remote connect via bookmark or QuickSupport session link to open the Host and do the account assignment by yourself - once you finish you can remove QuickSupport app and/or the bookmarked device.
