Commercial use - Connection time out

  • i'm literally connected to the same network at home. just checking something on my desktop from my laptop upstairs because i was lazy. they're really pushing hard for their single user license huh?

been using this for 15+ years. as i only ever use it once in a blue moon these days, i can't justify their recurring monthly price. what's funny is that i used to want a license even for personal use, just so i can get help from issues they have. but seeing that they haven't even addressed issues like remote HDR, i'd rather look somewhere else at this point. at least it was free.

    any recommendations?

  • Since joining Teamviewer at home, in 2012, i would occasionally be flagged as commercial user but could get this reset to free fairly quickly. At 73, i use it to manage 4 pc's around my house, updates etc. Since september this year, i was again flagged as commercial and limited to 1 min connection time. Despite asking and getting an initial reset which did not fix it , repeated reset requests seem to be ignored. Noting similar earlier posts, it would seem to me that the Free account is being phased out and will no longer be supported. If this is the case, then just come out and say so. instead of annoying loyal users by the lack of support and response.

    Hi there,

New to the forum. I've used Teamviewer for a long time purely for free use. I had to submit a ticket to reset my account to free back in late September which was approved. I tried to use Teamviewer for the first time since then last week and it claimed to have detected "commercial use" when I had tried to use my phone to connect to my PC whilst I was in a different room in my house. I have tried to submit a ticket request 3 times in the last week and each time I haven't received a confirmation email.

What can I do to ensure that my ticket has been submitted and will be reviewed? The 72 hours has passed since I sent the first request last week.

    Thank you in advanced!

I'm not alone then! I started a thread a couple of days ago asking if anyone had had any success getting their license reset. It's had no replies yet which isn't looking good 🙁.

Nono, not alone at all! I'm hoping we get a response as I love the product and have used it for a few years now (never commercially). I've added their email domain to my whitelist also to see if it helps. If you get any updates, can you DM me please? Would love to know if there's any traction :)

has anybody else had problems reclaiming their free version. I have used TeamViewer free version for a very long time to support one friend, and now, all of a sudden I’m told I am using it in a commercial environment. I have tried the ‘reclaim free version’ on 3 occasions without even getting any sign of an acknowledgment, which I find unacceptable. If they don’t want people to use a free version then they shouldn’t offer it.

I hear you, same thing happened to me, except I wasn't even helping a friend, I was just using my laptop to access my desktop when I am on the road. And, of course, since we're free members, trying to get reinstated is like dealing with the CIA - there is no way to get in touch with anyone, and no one from the company will respond to any posts so one can plead their case and be able to use the software again. I agree with you, though, if you're going to make it so difficult to use a free version of the software, why even have it out there? I have pretty much stopped using it, since I can't use it any longer than about a minute before it gets cut off. Now I just use it to quick log on to my desktop for things like verifying that something somebody may have sent me actually arrived at my desktop. And it is really too bad, as it was such a helpful tool, for me anyway, to be able to check things on my desktop at home when I am on the road. I'm still looking, though, for a way to somehow get in touch with someone in corporate to plead my case, but I'm not real optimistic.

  • Hi. If anyone from Teamviewer sees this, I would like to talk to someone about reinstating my free version of Teamviewer. I use it to check what's happening on my desktop whenever I am on the road, so I don't get behind on anything. I don't know how that qualifies as commercial use, but if someone could explain that to me, I would certainly be interested in hearing it. To repeat, I access my desktop with my laptop or my mobile phone when I am on the road travelling, to monitor my desktop and make sure things are alright. Not sure how that can be considered commercial, but I would like to hear it and hear about how to correct it. Thank you in advance.

well it’s good to know when you’re not the only one. I very much doubt anyone will receive a response . Having tried many times I have become very disillusioned with this company, which is a shame as the product is very good. Please let me know if anyone does get any joy

    Help!

I am getting kicked out of teamviewer when I try to connect to my desktop or main computer from my laptop. It's just me - and I am connecting from my personal laptop to my personal computer. I have used teamviewer for years. I have had this problem come up a couple times years ago, and I had to send my username to tech support and they fixed it. I have design software on my desktop that has a security dongle that won't allow me to open the software using remote desktop. There isn't a way for me to send an email anymore because I am a single user, not a corporation that needs a license.

Can someone please help? I have had major surgery, and can't get to my computer or sit up at a desk. Thank you so much!

    Jacki

  • I think this post is a trash can where nobody from TV will respond nor care.

425 pages of posts, 0 response from them…

    It's a shame because they had a fantastic product…

Hi, I got the below message when accessing team viewer. Pls help to check and advise. Thanks.

  • Why has my post been merged with this one? The title of this thread is “commercial use - connection time out”

I’m not using it for commmercial use. Personal only.

Likelihood of getting a response seems to be pretty low…

    Shame.

  • I am trying to use it to remote access my parents computer who live in California and I am in Nevada….to help them with computer stuff and its not working anymore…

I last used this like 2-3 years ago and it was free and worked fine…..

is it a paid only thing nowadays or still free to use for what I am needing it for??

After less than a minute or two it will automatically disconnect my session and says this:

"Connection blocked after timeout. Your license limits the maximum session duration to a partner, immediate reconnects are blocked. Please try later or upgrade your license."

I literally cannot stay connected for more than a minute or two and control my parents computer anymore….*bleep* is this BS??

I have the same exact problem. False flagged for commercial use. I definitely will not spend one schilling if this is the kind of support I can expect. A modest fee for a decent non-commercial use ability I could even pay for.

Same. They will earn exactly zero cents off me, and never will if this is the kind of scam they run. First *bleep* now Teamviewer.

  • Hello TeamViewer Community,

I’ve been using TeamViewer for a while to support my elderly friend remotely when he faces issues with his computer. Recently, I’ve encountered a problem where my connection drops after less than 20 seconds, and I get prompted to pay for a license.

This is a rare, non-commercial use solely to assist my friend in times of need. Is this behavior normal? I’d appreciate any guidance on how I might resolve this issue or if there’s an option for occasional personal use without interruptions.

    Thank you for your help!

I've already submitted the form for the "Commercial use suspected" reset, as I only use TeamViewer for personal purposes. Could you let me know how long the review process usually takes, and if there's anything I should keep an eye on during this time?

    Thanks in advance!

Hello! Please unblock my IP [removed per Community Guidelines]

    I don't know why I was blocked.

  • You know considering how unreliable the free license is with connection drops every two minutes why would I ever want to pay for the service???

  • Hi

I'm using the free version of Teamviewer for personal use. I was using it to connect to my mum's laptop to her with something, but after about 30 seconds or a minute, it kicked me off and gave an error:

    "Connection blocked after timeout
Your license limits the maximum session duration to a partner, immediate reconnects are blocked. Please try later or upgrade your license.
Connections to the partner will be blocked until 22:51"

I tried again at 22:51 and the same error appeared, but the time had changed to 22:52. Tried again a minute later and it changed to 22:53, and so on. When I click on "More info", it just takes me to the page to purchase a business license.

Why is it kicking me out? I'm using it for personal use only. Neither my computer or hers are corporate laptops. They're both personal devices.

Until a year or so ago, I had access to Teamviewer through my work, but no longer have that, but that's a different login. Could it be something to do with that? Is it detecting that I've previously used a corporate license? Is there a way to clear this, so I can once again use it for personal use?

    Thanks
