REMOTE USE PROBLEM

Hi all,

about 6 months ago I opened a ticket because, erroneously, it seemed that the use of my teamviewer was commercial. I made it clear that I use teamviewer only to help friends and relatives. Today I realized again this problem, which did not allow me to help a friend in need. Can you verify and reset my account?

I am using Teamviewer at my home to connect to the laptop of my wife and doughters from my desktop. Yesterday I was flagged as commercial user and the connection drop out in 30sec. I dont know why. I have submitted the form with my logs. No response at all. I moved to **Third Party Product** (laggy but I can use it). Is there any way to have answer from TV team and to start over tu use TV again?

Help for a disabled person?

I am requesting help for a person who is disabled (quadriplegic paralysis).  I recently viewed a question on Experts-Exchange.com, from this individual, and I feel compelled to try to help as much as possible.  This person recently started to get pop-ups and is now blocked from using the software due to the frequency of his FREE version personal usage, which he needs due to his disability.  He cannot afford to pay the subscription fee, and I am hopeful someone at TeamViewer.com can assist him with a license key.  I've attempted to reach out to the VP and CEO of Teamviewer directly, and I am also posting here in an effort to get someone to see this and hopefully help this person.  I frequently answer questions for people on Experts Exchange, ...which I do not get paid for btw.  Hopefully someone can get this message to the right people and make this person's life a little easier.

If possible, I would like to put them in touch with someone at TeamViewer to assist.

Uninstall the current version, then go to http://download.teamviewer.com/download/version_9x/TeamViewer_Setup.exe

Install version 9 then go to:
Extra's>Advanced>Show Advanced Options:

Change Check for new version to "NEVER"
Change Install new version automatically to "No automatic updates"

This all started with Version 10 in 2013/2014

I use the free version of team viewer for individuals but I always get a message saying that the trial period has expired, how can I solve this problem? Use windows 10

For the moment I'm using **Third Party Product**. At least I can access my PC. It's not as performing as Team Viewer, but it's totally free and it might become a valid solution if TeamViewer staff goes on in asking for a subscription in such and unfair and not motivated way.

It seems that they organize this ******* once a year. I got the same problem a year ago and finally resolved it sending the form and being reset in a week.

Hope the work eficeintely and they solve our PERSONAL problems fast, because we use it for personal use, not commercial ad there is no need to go to another solution.

You should think as Msoft did... they didn't care about using their products at home (maybe sometimes "illegaly" copied) , it was a way to have all the people to ask to use it at work and it is in the companies business where Msoft got their money.... Just the error IBM did with their OS2 product that tried to correct... tooooooo late.

professional and personal license error

Hello,

I use TeamViewer for personal use and for 1 week, when I log in, I have a message that tells me that I use it for business purposes and that I have to buy a lisence.

I can only log in for 1 minute and the connection turns off.

I'm fine remove the application of 2 pc that I use and then re-install the application, it's always the same.

How to recover my personal use?

Good morning. I only use a private and non-commercial use of Team Viewer, but a few days ago the system prevents me from using it because it mistakenly believes that it makes commercial use and connects me only for a few seconds.
I use it only to connect with another pc of my property and that of my elderly parents (83 and 90 years of age) to pay their bills and other similar things ...
These are my accesses ... what use is it if not private ???

Wrongly detected as business usage

Hi,

With no reason I'm accused of using Teamviewer for business usage.
The software is on my personal laptop and I use it to get remote control of my personnal desktop unit.

The only reason I could think of it that my personnal laptop is registered to my company domain to be able to access to the company's network folders and printers.

Already sent an email but no answer...

ok it just happened to me too, i was connected to another laptop in the same lan, it instantly timeouted and then it locks me out for the next 10 minutes. So that's it good riddance TV, I'm right this moment starting to investigate what's the best free alternative for you.

So, back from my investigation for TV alternatives. I have to confess that I don't think that there are any with all the features TV has:

- you have to either install a client / server (or both) if you want to access from / the machine

- you have to connect via a browser

- there are shady companies behind these (a Russian one or a Vietnamese that single handedly seemed to have pulled off a TV ripoff)

- etc.

I did fill the form here: https://www.teamviewer.com/en/support/commercial-use-suspected/ seemingly faster than https://www.teamviewer.com/en/support/personal-use-verification/ but I haven't got any hope, because their paradigm has shifted.

So even if I (and think others as well) hobbysts out there would find a way to pay for a perpetual licence to use for their own personal use (not remunerated in any way, be that direct / indirect), this simply won't happen, and we do all agree that what they offer as business pricing is simply to high for any individual to afford.

There are 2 alternatives that somewhat could do the trick, one is browser based (you now the most popular browser on Earth has an app which allows remote connection), in LAN you could always rely on the native RDP protocol, or there seems to be another (smaller than TV) European company, in a neighbour country, that has developped a protocol that also detects local installations and allows you to connect over the Internet by knowing the IP (haven't tried this one yet, because I can't install the other end).

I'll try as well to find TV version 9 and see how "bad" the past was.

I confirm that going back to TV version 9 on all machines makes all warnings go away.

You'll just have to disable updates from within the application and also ignore the remote update warning (I don't know why this happens as they all have the same version v9.0.41110 available from here: http://download.teamviewer.com/download/version_9x/TeamViewer_Setup.exe

@Jackgioia there was a huge wave of free users being incorrectly blocked and forced out of TV because there is no personal license that end-users could afford. As I've been saying on this topic, you can either choose a TV alternative (but I couldn't find any with all the features and easiness of use, and even if I found I couldn't quote any :) (I hinted two in a previous post), or you can go back to version 9 on all machines and disable updates. This would definitely make the warnings and blocks go away.

Session disconnects after 5 minutes (Free License, not commercial)

I've set up a computer for remote management at my fathers house to help my him with computer problems occasionally.

I've added it to my list of computers and the connection works great, except that I get disconnected after 5 minutes, and then I have to wait for a while before re-connecting or I get an error message.

I've tried to make things as easy as possible, and register his computer in the "My Computers" section in the TeamViewer manager by installing the Host version and enabling "easy access" from my account.

Should this be set up in a different way? With him creating an account and that I use this to connect to his computer through my contacts or something?

If this is a limitation of the Free License, I'll rather use a different solution for this sporadic support need.

**Third Party Product** or something is really all I need, but I figured using a trusted provider like TeamViewer would be both more safe and easier to manage.
Doesn't seem like this is the case.

Moreover, as you say you profit (or at least attempt to gain profit) from this TV usage so I don't think it'll qualify as free / personal.

Connection Timeout

Hello, i got a connection timeout and subsequent message after reconnecting:

Looks like the cause is that TW thinks i am using it for business in a business environtment.
Which is not the case, i just use it to connect from my workplace pc to my home personal pc.

not business related. How to fix this?!

Blocked use

Hello:
Years ago I use Teamviewer for very specific cases, such as file transfers, since a few weeks ago trying to use it I get a sign that says "Action Required: Teamviewre is being used commercially by you or the remote partner, Your session will end in minutes"
I have contacted Teamviewer staff and they have told me to explain in this community what is happening to me so that the technical support send me a form stating that the use I am giving to Teamviewer is not for commercial use and so they could use it. to unlock.

Say "commercial use" but im not using as commercial

When i connect to my another computer (on home obviusly) i used for remote control, and transfer files when computers ON HOME.

Im not used for comerce. And now say "using as commercial".......and no are real.

"Commercial Use Suspected" resolution time

Hello,

unfortunately I'm among the large group of users who use TeamViewer for personal use but got the "Commercial Use Suspected" pop-up and subsequent limitation to 1-minute sessions and 10 minutes of wait between sessions.

I've read carefully TeamViewer's definition of personal use (https://community.teamviewer.com/t5/Knowledge-Base/How-exactly-is-quot-personal-use-quot-defined/ta-...) and I fully qualify.

I subsequently filled out the form here: https://www.teamviewer.com/en/support/commercial-use-suspected/

But I've havent't heard from TeamViewer well after 7 days. Can someone help? Do someone at Teamviewer actually get back to you if you fill out the form? Does it work?

@Alissa actually nobody can help you or us, not even TV themselves, they won't reply you'll have to check if they've lifted the warning... 

And it also seems that going back to version 9 won't help, I had the warnings, session cuts and blocking by 2 minute periods... and a message that the version is going to be deprecated by the mid of 2019.

I see, thank you for your reply. I will miss TW, unfortunately I cannot use alternatives because the pc I use during the day is blocked, so it's either TW or a certain messaging software that comes with the office suite...which I'm using right now, and to call it laggy is being generous.

I just wonder if I have to take what TeamViewer says about "suspected commercial use" and their intention to do right by their free users at face value or not, I mean, is there someone whose "supected" limitations got lifted and never returned?

The sad thing is, I would pay for this service but they have no plans for individual users, only subscriptions that make sense if you use it commercially, not for playing youtube videos. It's probably more profitable this way for TeamViewer. I don't see a solution, really.

problem connection

Hello,
Since you have switched to version 14 I can no longer enter my mother's PC (being of a certain age sometimes impales the pc)
and not even in my house (I take files when I forget them)
because after 10 seconds the connection is disconnected.

Why? do you think you use the product on a commercial level?

Since at least one week, my free account is blocked because TeamViewer think of a commercial use.

I have all my usage for familly, so  it's a real free usage.

I tried to post the form at https://www.teamviewer.com/en/support/commercial-use-suspected but each time I post the form I come on a success page but never received the confirmation mail like it was in the past.

Does the form post really something ?

Am I Alone in this case ?

You aren't, you aren't.

The problem is that nobody knows who read the form and when or which method do they use for decide if they unlock you or not.....

What they say one should check some days after sending the form if they unblock us or not.... Days? Weeks? Nobody knows....

Last Time I ask for reset  I received a confirmation mail and this time I never received one. I wonder if the the miss of mail is normal.

Last time it's took 2 weeks for resetting.

Same here... I'm using a linux computer on my home network (not business), and can't connect to it because I'm suspected to be a commercial user... I have been using this software for conveniently managing my home computers from one single machine for years, now I'm getting stuck with stupid commercial suspicions. If no quick workaround is being given I'm gonna use another software and stop saying all the good of teamviewer. If aggressive commercial licensing is the path the company wants to take, it's gonna lose what gave its success and be for sure far less popular. Ashame..

j'ai déjà éta débloqué le le 13/07/2018 pour le même problème (j'avais ouvert un ticket à l'époque on teamviewer aidait les personnes qui n'achetaient pas les licences, ce qui n'est plus le cas aujourd'hui)

j'ai recommandé teamviewer à des dizaines de personnes, quand on voit le résultat aujourd'hui, c'est décevant

pour l'instant, j'ai trouvé la solution [link removed per Community Guidelines] qui ne fait pas tant de défiance mais je préfère quand même mon teamviewer, j'espère alors que vous allez pouvoir me faire débloquer

En fait si par exemple tu as 3 appareils chez toi et tu ouvres 2 sessions en parallele depuis une machine vers les 2 autres (ou bien une rapidement apres avoir ferme la premiere, pouf t'as le warning).

@tonaz : what exactly do you mean by you having done the Personal User verification? If you just filled out the form and has sent it to TV, it's not immediate... you need to wait they process your demand, and hope your TV ID has been reset.
