What is two-factor authentication for your TeamViewer account?

100% helpful (1/1)

Two-factor authentication for your TeamViewer account provides an extra layer of protection to secure your TeamViewer account from unauthorized access. In addition to your password, a second factor (security code) is needed to log in to your TeamViewer account.

To log in to your TeamViewer account you need to enter:

1. your email address and password

2. the security code

The security code is generated by an authenticator app on your mobile device. After activating two-factor authentication for your TeamViewer account, the app generates a temporary security code every 30 seconds. When you want to log in to your TeamViewer account, you have to enter the security code displayed on the app at this time.

To activate two-factor authentication click the following link to open up the TeamViewer Management Console or follow the instructions under "Two factor authentication - Activation and Deactivation".

Either install an authenticator app from your app-store or use one of these apps

Note: Once you have activated two-factor authentication for your account, you will only be able to log in to TeamViewer 9 (or higher) and the TeamViewer Management Console.
